The Bajío region stands out as the most critical hotspot, accounting for 31% of the total recorded incidents. In 2025, this region experienced a 7% increase compared to the previous year. It was noted that 94% of the incidents in this area were concentrated in four states: Guanajuato (36%), Jalisco (22%), Michoacán (19%) and Querétaro (16%).

Regarding theft trends, the firm indicated that the most affected product categories are: Food and beverages (31%), Construction and industrial materials (8%), Vehicles and auto parts (8%), Miscellaneous goods (8%) and Fuel (7%).

The report also highlights notable increases in specific categories, including auto parts by 3%, as well as fuel, which saw a 3% increase, and electronics, which grew by 2%. 

 2. Transportation News & Challenges 

There is a decline in Mexico’s heavy-duty truck exports to the U.S. in March 2026, driven by weak freight demand and cautious investment. Despite slight signs of recovery, high inventories and soft cargo activity continue to pressure an industry heavily reliant on the U.S. market.

Mexico’s nationwide trucker and farmer strike came to an abrupt end Wednesday after organizers suspended highway blockades across the country following confrontations with authorities in multiple states. 

 3. Foreign Direct Investment - Mexico

KIA will invest $600M USD in Nuevo León to expand its production, develop electric vehicles, and implement sustainable projects such as a solar park and a water treatment plant. The investment will generate at least 300 direct jobs. (Automotive, South Korea) 

stockGivaudan announced an investment of over $178M USD in Queretaro with the inauguration of “Project Sol V” and the launch of “Project Frida,” thereby consolidating its industrial expansion strategy in Mexico and strengthening the country’s production capacity within the chemical and fragrance sector. InvestmentDH Autoware announced an investment of $167M USD in Nuevo León to manufacture automotive motherboards for Hyundai and KIA. The project will create 440 jobs, strengthening the state’s attractiveness as an industrial investment hub. (Automotive electronics, South Korea)

Phoenix Contact inaugurated a plant in Querétaro with an investment of approximately $95M USD and 700 jobs. The complex will produce connectors, cables, and sensors, strengthening supply chains and the company’s presence in North America. (Automation and electrical engineering, Germany

NIFCO announced an investment of $85M USD for a second plant in Apodaca, Nuevo León. With this, its total investment in the state reaches USD 150 million and up to 3,000 jobs. The expansion reinforces the region’s position as a key automotive hub in Mexico. (Plastic components, Japan)
