CASE STUDY Redwood Composes Millions in Savings for Industry Leading Retailer

MARKET: RETAIL

Thanks to billions of dollars in annual sales, this leading retailer is an industry force. With hundreds of stores and one of the industry’s top direct sales websites, its global supply chain delivers products to dozens of countries. Along with its fully owned distribution centers across the US, this retailer operates a network of hubs for distribution support.

THE CHALLENGES

  • Reliance on legacy systems and outdated processes, limiting efficiency and savings potential
  • Pressure to reduce transportation costs while maintaining strong service levels
  • Need for a partner to support both in-network deliveries and direct-to-consumer fulfillment

THE SOLUTION

.

As a modern 4PL, Redwood had all the solutions, services, industry expertise and advanced technology the retailer needed to upgrade its worldwide logistics capabilities.

-

Redwood began by assessing the company’s logistics systems and processes, to target areas for improvement. By mapping the retailer’s order-to-cash workflow, Redwood identified several cost-savings opportunities and developed a strategy roadmap with the customer team. The execution of the strategy entailed hosting a full-truckload (FTL) RFP, advising the company on its parcel negotiations, and managing its less-than-truckload (LTL) transportation. Redwood also leveraged its proprietary integration platform, RedwoodConnect, to establish a connected and aligned technology foundation for the customer’s brick and mortar retail logistics operations. Moving forward, Redwood is utilizing RedwoodConnect to expand the customer’s ability to onboard multiple pool providers with differing chain-of-custody systems.
