Delivering a Healthy ROI for Medical Manufacturer

MARKET: HEALTHCARE, MULTINATIONAL MANUFACTURING, AND DISTRIBUTOR OF HOSPITAL & SURGICAL PRODUCTS

A global healthcare company that focuses on products to treat kidney disease, and other chronic and acute medical conditions, features an extremely diverse supply chain and mode mix, including parcel, less-than-truckload (LTL), full-truckload (FTL), intermodal, ocean, and operating their own private fleet.

THE CHALLENGES

  • Complex logistics strained by shifting customer and healthcare demands
  • Rapid product demand causing operational growing pains in North America and Mexico
  • Emerging operational gaps revealing the need for expanded support and services

THE SOLUTION

-

Redwood’s private fleet, F/X was able to offer capacity relief, and show immediate value for ‘just in time’ orders. F/X quickly became one of the leading carriers for the healthcare company, servicing multiple locations. As the partnership grew, a vendor inbound LTL program was created, Redwood multimodal began to help service backup lanes for the private fleet, and RedwoodConnect was utilized for visibility integration needs, pushing data to benefit their customer service requests.

-

Years of strong performance led the medical supply company to lean on Redwood to help shore up its international service levels as well. Redwood set up and managed a new warehouse on their behalf on the U.S. and Mexico border, which included the implementation of a warehouse management system (WMS), procurement of north and southbound Mexico capacity, and heavy support from the private fleet, F/X.
