Going with the Flow: Redwood Helps ChemTreat Optimize Transportation

MARKET: CHEMICAL MANUFACTURING AND WATER TREATMENT SERVICES

Headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, ChemTreat, Inc. is one of the largest, fastest-growing industrial water treatment companies in the world. With three U.S. manufacturing locations, ChemTreat offers a range of products and services that help improve the efficiency and sustainability of water treatment processes in various industries, including power generation, manufacturing, and commercial facilities.

THE CHALLENGES

  • Highly complex logistics operations
  • Diverse transportation modes
  • Need to optimize across multiple metrics
  • Outdated technology and manual processes

THE SOLUTION

-

Based on its combination of hands-on logistics experience and technology expertise, Redwood was chosen to help ChemTreat identify, specify, and launch a new transportation management system.

Based on ChemTreat’s needs, Redwood implemented Oracle Transportation Management (OTM) to optimize critical processes such as fleet management, multimodal and multi-stop transport, bulk logistics, carrier rating, and order routing. Next, the proprietary RedwoodConnect integration platform was installed to link OTM with both internal supply chain systems—such as the enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution—as well as external carriers.

Redwood also optimized ChemTreat’s busy parcel-shipping operations with Redwood Parcel Cloud, a multi-carrier platform that provides cloud-based rating, labeling, and manifest capabilities with native integration to other systems.

THE RESULTS

Greater visibility and control of transportation
Real-time connectivity across systems
Improved collaboration with trading partners

RedwoodConnect™

One of the key capabilities delivered by Redwood is systems integration and connectivity via RedwoodConnect. Managing our complex transportation operations requires that we use a variety of systems internally, as well as connect in real time with a range of trading partners. Redwood made that happen seamlessly, with minimal investments in IT staffing or internal technology assets. Today we can see what’s happening from end to end, which gives us greater control over our transportation cost and service outcomes.
