Our founders, fresh off their experience at one of the largest logistics companies in North America, saw the need for a new kind of brokerage—one that would better service the small to mid-sized market. In 2001, armed with the belief “you’re only as good as your last load,” they formed Transportation Solutions Group® (TSG®), a brand that became known for its superior customer service and ability to always find a way.


2004 – 2005

This belief paid off and TSG grew. After several years, the entrepreneurs identified a rising need to provide additional, reliable, cost-effective capacity. As a result we spun off our sister company, Freight Exchange (F/X), an asset-based truckload company in 2004. It was one more way to show that our company was committed to our growing customer base by investing in rolling assets.

Our next epiphany came in 2005 when we realized that moving data and information was just as important as moving freight. Therefore we developed our own propriety transportation management system (TMS), knowing that technology would be the key to our future.


2000 – 2011

By 2009, technology solutions ruled the next evolution of logistics. With innovation as the driving force behind our growing business, our team began to develop sophisticated data-driven solutions for our clients. By 2011, buoyed by the success, we created our technology-powered managed services company, 3PLogic.

Adding to the growth of 2011, we created our holding company, Transportation Solutions Enterprises (TSE), to not only reduce risk and provide shared services to our operating companies, but to put us on a journey towards our integrated model.



In 2013, our family of companies grew again by acquiring Defined Logistics and The Treppel Group. With these companies adding additional offerings to include, freight forwarding, international, intermodal, warehouse, and distribution, we realized we had hit a turning point.



With our diversity of services, data-driven network solutions, and strategically integrated model, we had positioned ourselves as the dominate player in the mid-market space.

That’s why in 2015 we became Redwood Logistics.



Redwood Logistics combined with Simplified Logistics, an Ohio-based less-than-truckload logistics provider acquired by CI Capital in February 2017, to form a unique, full service logistics platform.

The complementary nature of Simplified’s and Redwood’s legacy businesses made this a natural combination that creates a differentiated, multi-modal offering, improving the competitive positioning of both companies.

2018 and beyond

2018 and beyond

In 2018 Redwood continued our unique growth story:

  • Redwood and Simplified merged into a combined brand Redwood Logistics.
  • We opened a new distribution center in El Paso, Texas.
  • We launched Redwood Mexico to provide you with operations and sales support for cross border shipping.
  • We enhanced our service with the opening of an Office in Phoenix, AZ.
